How to reach Gurpa
Gurpa is a sacred site for Buddhists who believe that the Buddha’s successor, Maha Kassapa is buried here. This is also the site that the Buddhists believe that the Maitreiya will appear again to renew the world. This place is worth visiting and is close enough to Bodh Gaya for a day’s trip.
Gurpa has a railway station and one can travel here directly or change over from Gaya.
Gaya has an airport that has some international flights coming in from Thailand, Colombo and from the major cities in India. Patna has an international airport and is also well connected to all the cities in India. There are taxis that one can hire from here to Gaya and to Gurpa.
– The best way to get here by road is through Gaya at a distance of 33 kms. The route goes through Fatipur and one must start early from Gaya to be able to get back at night.
